Who doesn’t know Mukesh Ambani? He is the richest man in India. He is also one of the wealthiest people in the world. Mukesh Ambani is the chairman of Reliance Industries. He has transformed Reliance from a company into a large business empire operating in telecom, retail, energy, and digital services. Ambani is also known for his lavish lifestyle, such as his home, Antilia, in Mumbai, and for major business developments, such as launching Jio, which successfully changed the telecommunications landscape in India. What was Mukesh Ambani’s income from Reliance in FY25?

Have you ever thought about how much Mukesh Ambani earns in a year or in a fiscal year? For the fifth year in a row, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries (RIL) and Asia’s richest man, drew no salary for the fiscal year 2024-25 (FY25). In its most recent annual report, it states that Ambani is maintaining the voluntary commitment he made during the COVID-19 pandemic to waive his compensation entirely, including salary, allowances, and performance-related incentives. The 68-year-old has not received any payment since FY21. Ambani had voluntarily chosen to limit his annual pay to Rs 15 crore between FY09 and FY20.

Where does the Ambani family draw their income from?

Nonetheless, it appears that the main source of income for the 18th richest person in the world, whose net worth is just under USD 100 billion, comes from dividends.  He directly holds 1.61 crore shares in Reliance, earning Rs 8.85 crore in dividend income based on the Rs 5.50 per share dividend declared by the company for FY25.

The promoter group firms that he controls, own 664.5 crore shares, or 50.07 per cent, give a dividend income of Rs 3,655 crore.

What were Akash, Isha, and Anant Ambani’s sitting fees?

In addition, Ambani’s three children – Isha Ambani, Akash Ambani, and Anant Ambani, who were appointed to the board in October 2023 at nil salary, got Rs 6 lakh each as sitting fee and Rs 2.27 lakh as commission. They had in the previous year got Rs 4 lakh each as sitting fee and Rs 97 lakh as commission.
