Narayana Murthy, along with seven other engineers, founded Infosys in 1981 from a one-bedroom apartment in Pune. The office was later moved to Bengaluru.
Nagavara Ramarao Narayana Murthy was born on August 20 in the state of Karnataka. He earned his bachelor degree from the National Institute of Engineering and pursued his master’s from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.
Narayana Murthy, along with seven other engineers, founded Infosys in 1981 from a one-bedroom apartment in Pune. The office was later moved to Bengaluru.
Murthy is also considered as ‘Father of Indian IT Industry’ Infosys is ranked second spot after Tata Consultancy Services.
He has a net worth of Rs 36,600 crore. He is the fifth richest person in Bengaluru and 69th richest in India.
Infosys co-founder Senapathy Gopalakrishnan has a net worth of Rs 38,500 crore. Senapathy served the company as CEO and Managing Director from 2007-2011 and as Vice chairman from 2011-2014.
The company’s current CEO and Managing director, Salil Parikh, is the highest paid CEO who charges 66.25 crore annually in FY 24.
Narayana Murthy has been honoured with Padma Vibhushan and Padma Shri.
