His vision was to offer people affordable household items, groceries, and daily essentials. Damani aimed to meet Indian consumers’ needs with budget-friendly products and conveniently located stores.

The business model of DMart is it operates on an Everyday Low Price (ELP) model and focuses on keeping product costs low and attracting a broad customer base. The products are cheaper at DMart because the company source directly from the manufacturer. To keep the prices low, most of the stores are located on the outskirts of major cities and towns, saving on rent and other operational costs.
The outer-city locations encourage customers to shop for an entire month to reduce frequent trips.
