Vodafone offers 9GB 4G data on Amazon exclusive smartphone range

Vodafone is now offering 45 GB of additional free data in partnership with e-commerce player Amazon India. To avail this offer, a user will have to recharge for a minimum of 1GB data pack to get 9 GB of additional 4G data free of cost.

Mumbai, May 22: Amid full-blown data war in the telecom sector, telecom major Vodafone has come up with an exciting offer on the purchase of Amazon exclusive 4G smartphones. Vodafone is now offering 45 GB of additional free data in partnership with e-commerce player Amazon India. According to the terms & conditions of the offer, a user will have to recharge for a minimum of 1GB data pack (minimum cost is Rs 97) to get 9 GB of additional 4G data free of cost. The offer is, however, available only on select 4G smartphones from May 11 to June 30.  The offer can be availed by for both prepaid and postpaid subscribers on the purchase of Amazon-exclusive 4G smartphones.

To get benefits of the Vodafone offer, a customer must first purchase the Amazon exclusive handset before June 30. It has been mentioned on the website that this free data offer cannot be cumulated with any other special discounts. The Amazon exclusive handsets include smartphones like Samsung On5 Pro, OnePlus 3T, Honor 6X and Moto G Play (4th Gen), among others.

The telecom industry witnessed a data war ever since Reliance Jio has entered the telecom sector in September 2016. Jio has till now, lured customers with its lucrative offers and has created a subscriber base more than any telco in the telecom sector. In its press release, Jio said that it will bring transformational changes in the Indian digital services space to enable the vision of Digital India for 1.2 billion Indians and propel India into global leadership in the digital economy.

What is the offer?

Buy 1GB or above 4G data pack and Get 9 GB additional free 4G data for 5 Recharges with maximum validity of 5 months from Vodafone on any Amazon exclusive handset purchased between May 11, 2017- June 30, 2017. For prepaid users, the 9 GB Free Data is applicable with recharges of 1/2/3/5/7GB 3G/4G Packs with 28 days validity only. For postpaid users, the 9 GB Offer is valid for 5 Bill Cycle with a condition that the subscriber has 1 GB or higher pack throughout the promo Period. VF reserves the right to disconnect the free Data if the base pack is disconnected during the offer period.

Here’s how you can avail the Vodafone free 4G offer:

1. The user will first need to buy an Amazon-exclusive 4G smartphone
2. Once the Amazon exclusive phone is purchased, the user needs to insert the Vodafone SIM. If your phone is a dual SIM smartphone, insert the Vodafone SIM in slot 1.
3. You will then receive an activation message which will read “You are eligible for Vodafone Amazon Buy 1GB or above pack & Get 9 GB for 5 Recharges with a maximum validity of 5 months.”

For prepaid Vodafone users:

After the user gets this message, prepaid subscribers can recharge with 1GB or above data pack to get 9 GB free data automatically. It has to be noted that for prepaid subscribers, 9 GB of free 4G data is valid for only 28 days. The user can avail of the 9 GB offer up to five times or a maximum of 5 months, whatever comes first.

For postpaid Vodafone users:

The postpaid subscribers, who have 1GB or above data plans in their rental are eligible and the free 9 GB of 4G data will be added to the existing data within 48 hours. For postpaid subscribers, the 9 GB of free 4G data is valid for 5 billing cycles with a condition that you have 1 GB or higher pack throughout the promo period.

The recharge mode applicable is only ETopup Mode no decrement or USSD mode is valid for this offer. Circle-wise applicable Recharge MRPs are mentioned below which are the only eligible recharge packs to get this offer.

E-commerce firm Amazon stated on its website that for the purchase of 1GB or above 4G data pack, users will get 9GB additional free 4G data for five recharges with a maximum validity of five months from Vodafone. Vodafone posted a loss of $6.9 billion for the 12 months to March, following a net loss of €5.4 billion in the previous financial year, the company said in a statement.
