Peyush Bansal: The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Lenskart, Peyush Bansal, continues to inspire the emerging entrepreneurs due to his tremendous success story. Bansal was seen as a judge and investor on Shark Tank India and has appeared in multiple shows, including The Kapil Sharma Show and Kaun Banega Crorepati.
While studying in school, he was simultaneously preparing for the prestigious IIT exam, but he was not selected. After this setback, he began convincing his parents to pursue an engineering degree in Canada. Peyush’s parents agreed to send him to Canada, and he started juggling between his college and working as a receptionist to manage funds.
The entrepreneur’s life in Canada was full of hardships. After taking admission into an engineering college, he found it troublesome to manage his expenses. As a result, he started working as a receptionist, marking his daily average between 18 and 20 hours. During this time period, he understood the value of struggle in life.
After working as a receptionist, Peyush’s focus went into studying the ‘Visual Basic Plus’ book given by his senior. He began writing code, which he later showed to his senior. Peyush’s skills impressed his senior, which led him to get his job replaced with a coding one from that of a receptionist.
Afterwards, he applied for an internship at Microsoft, for which he was initially rejected. Later, he bagged a three-month internship and got the opportunity to visit the house of Microsoft founder Bill Gates.
During his period at Microsoft, he worked with the brightest minds around him. After completing his engineering, he secured a job at Microsoft’s Seattle office. Peyush’s major takeaway from this job was to think from the perspective of the customer.
In 2008, Peyush Bansal decided to return to India. He transformed his car garage into an office where he started working and gave solutions to the college students. Without a defined business plan, his passion and curiosity, along with a customer-centric approach, led him to be a founding member of Lenskart in 2011.
He envisioned making eyewear accessible to every Indian, which later expanded worldwide. Peyush Bansal’s success story inspires every entrepreneur to dream and work hard.
