WOW air, the low-cost airline of Iceland, is soon going to launch its flight operations in India at the most affordable rates. The service will start from December 5, 2018, offering cheap flight tickets at the rate as low as Rs 13,499 one-way from India to nine US cities. But there is one catch. Service to Delhi will be available from nine US cities – Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI), Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT), Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW), San Francisco International Airport (SFO), Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL). The airline said in a statement “A one-way ticket to Iceland, U.S., Canada and London in the economy category called WOW basic will start from ₹13,499 (including taxes) while the business class fares termed as WOW premium will be priced from ₹46,599 onwards (including taxes),”. Considering it is a budget airline it will not serve you meals and check-in luggage will also not be allowed.
India is an underserved market as not sufficient international flights are available compared with the number of passengers flying every day. According to statistics, there are, currently, there are 20,000 people who travel between India and North America every day.

WOW air will use Airbus A330neo aircraft on the Delhi route offering at least 37 inches of legroom to flyers. Otherwise, the company flies with Airbus A320, Airbus A321 and Airbus A330 models. The company has an average aircraft age of just 2 years. WOW air is currently present in 39 destinations across Europe and North America including Dublin, London, Paris, Berlin, and Copenhagen. The company was established in November 2011 by Skúli Mogensen.
