A new phone for #Bharat is coming soon!” According to data released by research firm IDC, Xiaomi has joined hands with Samsung to become the number one smartphone company in India for the quarter (Q3) ending September. With this, both Samsung and Xiaomi now hold 23.5 per cent share of India’s smartphone market. “Xiaomi’s aggressive pricing made the brand a clear winner in selling devices on eTailers and direct internet platform. The brand’s offline expansion through preferred partner program and mi stores is also getting a good response as its shipments doubled from the last quarter,” said IDC.

Earlier this month, Xiaomi said it expects 30 per cent of its sales in India to come through offline stores by this year-end. The company, which forayed into the Indian market by selling its handsets online only, has been gradually ramping up its offline presence through partners. “Offline is growing at a fast pace for us…In July- August (this year), about 20 per cent of our sales was coming through offline channels. We hope this will increase to 30 per cent by end of the year or early next year,” Xiaomi India Head Manu Kumar Jain told reporters.
