Big boost for Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance JioStar: In a major financial boost for Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance JioStar, the new brand is set to create new advertising revenues from the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL). As the start of IPL 2025 gets near, reports have it that the advertising revenues, linear TV and digital combined, from the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) are expected to go past Rs 6,000 crore (Rs 60 billion). It has been reported that 90 per cent of the inventories of JioStar is sold out and that is expected to bring a 58 per cent increase in revenues over last year’s IPL. Notably, IPL 2024 clocked Rs 3,900 crore (Rs 39 billion).
Not to mention, the top brands that have associated themselves with the JioStar broadcasting are Reliance Retail, Coke’s Thumbs Up, fantasy cricket app My 11 Circle, State Bank of India, Amul, Dream 11, and Birla Opus, as per a report by the Business Standards.
JioStar, the recently formed JV with the merger of Viacom18 and Star India formerly announced the launch of JioHotstar, bringing together the streaming platforms JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar, as per a report by news agency IANS.
The new platform led by Mukesh Ambani now comprises close to 3 lakh hours of entertainment, live sports coverage, and more than 50 crore users, according to a statement.
“At the core of JioHotstar is a powerful vision—to make premium entertainment truly accessible to all Indians. Our promise of Infinite Possibilities ensures that entertainment is no longer a privilege, but a shared experience for all. By integrating AI-driven recommendations and offering streaming in over 19 languages, we are personalizing content like never before,” Kiran Mani, CEO – Digital, JioStar said on the launch of JioHotstar.
JioHotstar, which premiers tournaments like ICC events, IPL, and WPL, will also spotlight grassroots cricket with the Indian Street Premier League and pathway events from BCCI, ICC, and state associations. Beyond cricket, it brings global sporting excellence with the Premier League and Wimbledon while powering domestic leagues like Pro Kabaddi and ISL.
