The biggest musical awards night is a few hours away with a slew of artistes including Drake, Rihanna and Twenty One Pilots nominated for the top prizes at 50th Annual Grammy Awards. It will be held at 8 pm EST in Los Angeles on February 12. The celebrated award function will be hosted by James Corden who will take the hosting duties from LL Cool J, who hosted it for the last five years. While Beyonce leads the pack of nominees, she faces tough competition from Adele in some big categories. The two hold a tie in the Record of the Year, the Song of the Year and Album of the Year. Nominees in the Record of the Year category also include Lukas Graham, Rihanna and Twenty One Pilots. Although Grammy’s have not announced that Beyonce is performing, but if rumors are to by she has been practising for it. Adele, Katy Perry, The Weeknd, Chance the Rapper, Carrie Underwood, John Legend, Keith Urban, Lady Gaga, are also set to perform at the music awards.
There are 84 total categories in Grammy’s where someone can take home an award. The current categories include everything from Song of the Year to Best Metal Performance. The Grammys have almost four times as many awards as the Academy Awards. Four main categories of awards include Record of the Year Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist. 1. Hello — Adele
Adele surely has an upper hand with “Hello” in her pack. “Hello” has mass appeal and has got her many awards in the past. Adele won this category last year and we will have to wait to see if she repeats herself this time. It is also in nomination for Song of the Year.
2.Formation — Beyonce
Beyonce’s “Formation” will have a tough fight with others in the nomination as it is the better-performed song. But with her performance at Super Bowl, we are not sure if Queen Bey will receive the award in the category. It is also up for Song of the Year.
3.7 Years — Lukas Graham
Lukas Graham’s “7 Years” is also a strong contender in Song of the Year category owing to its lyrics. It is also for best pop performance by a group. “7 Years” is about revelations at various ages in your life from 7 up to 61, the age at which Lukas Forchhammer’s father died.
4.Work — Rihanna Featuring Drake
Rihanna’s Work featuring Drake which is 2016’s longest-running hit is another competition in the run. Like it or hate it “Work” is not something you could ignore. Honestly, “Work” is not Rihanna’s best, but the song had a wider reach.
5.Stressed Out — Twenty One Pilots
Twenty-One Pilots could steal the show as they are up for five awards, including Record of the Year. Stressed out is a commercially successful young rock band.
