Aamir Khan is known to inspire whether with his movies or with the various causes that he supports. The Dangal actor is back with a new cause for Satyamev Jayate. The actor has launched the second edition of Satyamev Jayate Water Cup, a competition among drought-hit villages in Maharashtra to see who can achieve maximum water conservation in the same prescribed time period. Aamir Khan took to Twitter to announce the official Satyamev Jayate Water Cup anthem, ‘Toofan Aala’. The song has been sung by wife Kiran Rao, who runs the NGO, Paani Foundation along with Aamir Khan. Paani Foundation is the NGO partner for this initiative. The video song, Toofan Aala, has been composed by famous Marathi music directors Ajay-Atul and is full of life. The music director duo has given us various gems, including the tracks of 2016 super-hit movie, Sairat. Aamir Khan’s post on the micro-blogging website, Twitter, sweetly revealed that the song has a new female singer, Kiran Rao! The story portrayed in the video is a heart touching tale of a drought struck village where people strive heard to work towards getting through this tough phase. The video also shows how a heartbroken farmer whose father committed suicide, finds hope again.

There are various Marathi actors who have featured in the video, in an effort to appeal to the villagers. Actors like Sai Tamhankar, Sunil Barve, Rinku Rajguru, Jitendra Joshi are all a part of the video along with Aamir Khan and music director duo, Ajay-Atul. The music video is directed by Nagraj Manjule. Aamir Khan has been actively trying to help the drought hit villages.


In 2016, he adopted two  drought-hit villages and also began Paani Foundation that has an aim of creating a drought free Maharashtra. The first edition of this Water Cup was working in three talukas, this has expanded as the competition and the initiative is spread across 30 talukas and 18 districts. The Satyamev Jayate Water Cup 2 will be held from April 8, 2017 to May 22, 2017. The top three villages across Maharashtra will get a cash prize of Rs. 50 lakhs, Rs. 30 lakhs and Rs. 20 lakhs respectively.
