The film has gone through a lot of trails and tribulations ever since its launch in 2013. Simbu went through a rough personal patch with his movies lying in the cans for a number of years. 70 percent of Achcham Yenbathu Madamaiyada was filmed before the film’s female lead, Pallavi Subash backed out the project. The film was postponed too as director Gautam Menon put the project on hold after receiving the chance to work with Ajith Kumar in Yennai Arindhaal.
The film reunites the winning trio of Gautam Menon,Simbu and music maestro AR Rahman after the immense success of Vinaithandi Varuvaaya. The trailer breezes through a happy, carefree Simbu, looking to have a fun time with his friends before falling in love. Then the romantic interlude takes over before the action kicks off. It finishes at a breakneck speed with Simbu fighting the baddies, trying to salvage a desperate situation. The film has been promoted as a romance-action thriller.
The cinematography, which is by Australian Dan Macarthur is a visual treat. When Simbu is seen around his friends or with Manjima Mohan (The female lead who marks her debut in Tamil), bright colours are used. The fight sequences have a dark tone. Music has always remained one of the highlights of a Gautam Menon film. The tw0-time Academy Award winner may have just churned out another chartbuster. For Simbu though, this film is crucial, and at the moment, his prospects look good going by the rushes of this film.
