The Golden Globe Awards 2018 will witness a lot of actresses dressed in black protesting sexual harassment. US Weekly confirmed that more than 30 female actresses who are attending Golden Globes have vowed to wear black to the event. Reports also state that black will dominate the awards season. The decision comes at a time when Hollywood has been rocked by sexual harassment allegations against film directors including Harvey Weinstein. According to People, all actresses attending the Golden Globes 2018 will be wearing black. Men holding high-profile positions have also been accused by actresses of molestation. Men who have been accused of inappropriate behaviour includes Kevin Spacey, George HW Bush, Jeremy Piven, Brett Ratner, Dustin Hoffman, Steven Seagal, Louis CK, Jeffrey Tambor and Matt Lauer.
ANI quoted a source as saying, “All female actresses attending the Globes are protesting by just wearing black gowns. his movement is spreading rampantly and pretty much all the nominated women and others attending are participating. All the stylists who already did fittings are now changing out their clients’ original picks for Globes.” As per reports, “multiple sources” have confirmed that presenters and nominees like Jessica Chastain, Mary J. Blige and Meryl Streep will be wearing “all-black looks as a symbol of protest against harassment in Hollywood.”
Earlier this week, it was announced that all the presenters at the Screen Actors Guild Awards will be women. It will take place on January 21. Men will still participate in the ceremony, introducing clips for the nominees in the film ensemble category. Kristen Bell will serve as the first-ever host of the ceremony as previously announced.
