In cinema and on television, mothers are often portrayed to be extremely loving, caring and forgiving. While those emotions are loved by many, there is another aspect of motherhood which perhaps doesn’t get enough representation. That is, being tough and to punish a child when he/she is wrong, so that they grow up to be better human beings. It is with this in mind that mosquito repellent brand All Out has conceptualised and created a beautiful ad film. This ad film was shared by All Out on its Facebook page All Out India, and has already gone viral. The film asks people to stand by tough moms, because when moms are tough, you help her protect the next generation, states the ad film.
The ad has won major love on Facebook with over 5.2 million views, some 1.6 lakh reactions and more than 1.4 lakh shares. The ad is about four minutes long, and narrates a dining table scene in a typical Indian joint family. While the mom serves food, her son pushes away the plate. She places it back near him, but he keeps pushing it away. Ultimately, she takes the plate away from him. All this while, there are awkward glances exchanged by other family members sitting around the table. When the mother takes away the plate, other women sitting at the table comment saying that there is no need for her to be so harsh. ‘After all he took just Rs 10 from the wallet’, translates one of the dialogues said by the ladies. They continue to taunt her until the patriarch speaks up and says that the little boy didn’t ‘take’ the money, but ‘stole’ it. He stands by his daughter-in-law.

The ad ends with the boy eating his food and also realising his mistake. The brand beautifully ties in the social message with its product, and makes for a very entertaining and heart-warming watch. We would all perhaps relate to moments when our own moms have been strict with us and we probably hated it at that moment. But it all contributed towards making us the people we are today. And that is the message the brand has tried to convey. What’s your opinion on the ad? Let us know in the comments section below.
