Many Bollywood celebrities like Anupam Kher, Boman Irani and Neerja producer Atul Kasbekar broke the internet on Sunday sharing a picture of a bunch of kids, posing for their friend who holds up a slipper in selfie-camera position, on their respective social media handles. While the internet went berserk analysing the picture that dripped with innocence, Amitabh Bachchan did not come forward to join the league and he had his reasons.
While actor Anupam captioned the image, ““Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out.”:) #Attitude #Innocence #HeartWarming #SelfieWithAFootwear” (sic), Boman captioned it as, ““You’re only as happy as you choose to be”. A saying that holds true for one and all!! And I’m sure this selfie deserves more likes than most..#PictureOfTheDay #Happy #Selfie #Kids #InstaGood #InstaPic” (sic).
Commenting on Atul’s tweet, which carried the picture with the caption, “I’m sharing this image that came in on text cause d unbridled innocence n joy of these lovely kids moved me n made me smile in equal measure…Super image that asks questions…If anyone can reliably locate these munchkins n d photog I’d love to personally send them something each,” (sic), megastar Amitabh wrote, “.. with due respect and apology .. i feel this is photoshopped .. notice that the hand that holds the chappal is different than the rest of his body in size .. to his other hand by his side !!”
Within minutes of Amitabh’s comment, the Twitterati stood divided with their opinion of the selfie. While some agreed with Amitabh and said, “Yess you are absolutely right big 🅱 ji..this is photoshopped & i feel same like that when i noticed it” (sic) others stuck to the image’s authenticity and commented, “Not photoshopped. One kid is wearing the other chappal. And he is the only one who wears one. They show beautifully… happiness is not what you have, happiness is who you are !” (sic). Later, Atul himself replied to the superstar’s comment as he clarified, “Amit ji Nice to hear from u …Checked wt 3 post prod experts independently- Doo Creative, Hyd- Khurshed Poonawala- @HappyFinishAsia … All of them said it’s NOT photoshopped…The hand wt the chappal looking enlarged is a matter of perspective distortion standard on smartphones” (sic).
While such heartwarming pictures and videos keep circulating on the web, whether doctored or otherwise, they make Internet is a great place with its extraordinary finds even if the viral clip or image is thrown into a fire of online debate.
