Amorphophallus Titanum has been trending on Facebook the entire day. What is it? It happens to be the world’s largest flower. And what’s special is that it has bloomed after five years in Tokyo, Japan. Amorphophallus Titanum flowered at the Jindai Botanical Gardens in Chofu, Japan. People thronged to watch the world’s biggest flower in awe, and the Botanical Gardens had to keep their doors open for a longer time to accommodate the many visitors who dropped by.
But the world’s largest flower emits a foul smell, and so is also called the ‘corpse flower’. Amorphophallus Titanum smells like rotting meat, which helps it to attract pollinators.
Amorphophallus Titanum belongs to rainforests in Sumatra, Indonesia. Watch this video to know more about the flower!
