Musician AR Rahman is a proud mentor today after a 13-year-old Lydian Nadhaswaram, a pianist won a million dollars on the US reality show The World’s Best. He is the son of Tamil music director Varshan Satish and to win the title he defeated South Korean’s Kukkiwon, who is popularly known as The Flying Taekwondo Masters.
As per the reports by India Today, Lydian impressed the judges and the audience by playing two piano medleys in the finale of the show. After his performance, the front line judges Faith Hill, RuPaul Charles and Drew Barrymore along with 50 other judges from all around the world made a decision to announce him the winner.
Lydian spoke to NDTV about his experience at the US reality show and said, “It was really good performing in a huge international platform. I practiced a lot for the competition.” (sic)
Now, the teenager is being praised as ‘piano prodigy’ and during his stay in the US, he also made his debut on The Ellen Show. The video was shared by Ellan DeGeneres on Facebook and went viral instantly and fetched more than 2.6 million views. In the video, Lydian stunned the audience by playing the piano blindfolded.
On March 14, Rahman visited the young boy Lydian’s residence to congratulate him on his win. In the 10-minute long video shared by him on Twitter, Rahman receives a warm welcome and then the Lydian also plays a tune for the music maestro.
The 13-year-old boy is the student of Chennai based KM Music Conservatory that is run by AR Rahman. He wishes to make music for the movies but Rahman wants him to become Lang Lang (Chinese pianist) for India.
