‘4th Trimester Bodies’ is a photo document project created by photographer Ashlee Wells Jackson, who is also a mother of three. This project reaches out to spread a message to women about embracing the beautiful changes in their body that come with motherhood.
The Chicago based photographer has attempted to make every women relate to this project. It has everything to do with body changes brought on by motherhood, childbirth and breastfeeding.
Since Ashlee recently had a problematic pregnancy and childbirth experience that devastated her body image, she realised that there are many others who have such issues after embracing motherhood.
As a matter of fact, we live in a world obsessed with perfection – the scars, stripes and stretch marks that are formed after pregnancy cause a major inferiority complex among women. So this project reaches out and says be happy with who you are – shifting the focus to real beauty.
The project hopes to photograph as many mothers as possible and ultimately come up with a published book.
