Bahubali 2 has become a mega hit is undoubtedly the most liked movie of 2017. With appreciation flooding all ways from India as well as abroad, SS Rajamouli’s genius creation, Baahubali: The Conclusion has faced some trouble with the Singapore Censor Board. The sequel to 2015 super hit, Baahubali: The Beginning has been giving an adult certification from the film board in Singapore and has been tagged as too violent for kids. The A certificate is preventing 16-year-old fans from enjoying the visually enchanting Bahubali 2 movie in theatres. Bahubali 2 full movie is available to download & watch free online on Google Drive, while makers of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion seek action against piracy.
While Indians have been citing the issues and troubles that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in India has raised, Singapore seems to be having a tougher time. The CBFC is known to cut out scenes that the individual members find to be obscene and have stopped the release of internationally acclaimed award winning movies like Lipstick Under My Burkha. Singapore movie censor board received some criticism as the tagged the Bahubali 2 movie as too violent for children and gave it an A certification. The CBFC had instantly given the movie a U/A certificate without any significant cuts. Bahubali 2 cast salary: Know how much did Prabhas, Anushka Shetty, SS Rajamouli & others earn from ultimate box office blockbuster Baahubali 2 The Conclusion.
This rare incident where the CBFC had the upper hand on another international board was highlighted by Pahlaj Nihalani, the Censor Board chief who said, “We granted Baahubali 2: The Conclusion a ‘UA’ with virtually no cuts. In Singapore, they found Baahubali too violent. The war scenes, especially of soldiers being beheaded, were taken to be excessively gruesome by their censor board. In many countries of Asia and Europe, more Bollywood films get ‘A’ certificate than we do in India.”
This is not the first time that the Singapore Censor Board has been strict about the certification. The 2017 Disney movie, Beauty and The Beast also got an A certification for having gay scenes. While the Indian censor board is taking this opportunity to sing praises for themselves, others are pointing out that the Singapore Censor and certification board is actually merely doing their job of assigning suitable certification to movies, instead of cutting out scenes and editing the films in the name of certification board.
