Beyoncé is expecting her twins and is in her last trimester and to celebrate the occasion she just threw the most amazing party in town. The ‘Carter Push Party’ was a baby shower for the expecting mother themed on West African influence. Some of her closest friends and celebrities were invited to celebrate the cherished moment with her. Beyoncé Knowles was joined by her former Destiny’s Child’s band members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. Serena Williams, the celebrated Tennis player who is also expecting her first child was in attendance as well along with Tina Knowles, Beyoncé’s mother. The party was thrown by the singer and her husband Jay-Z at a private residence in Beverly Hills. However, the highlight of the party was Beyoncé’s baby bump that was covered with a beautiful henna or mehendi pattern. The 35-year-old singer wore a bralette and a skirt with beautiful henna designs on her bump.
Beyoncé shared a few pictures from the party on her Instagram account and also showed off her henna-covered baby bump. Apparently the henna on baby bump is an African custom and is followed by some African mothers and brides. Henna in India is a very important part of weddings and other women-oriented rituals and are always dealt with much reverence and significance. If Indian sayings are to be believed than a girl’s henna colour at her wedding depicts how much love and respect she will get from her husband and in-laws, the darker the colour, more love comes her way. However, in India people stick to applying henna or mehendi on their hands or in their hair for colour and hiding greys.
