April promises to be a haven for movie buffs as some very exciting movies with powerhouse performers will be hitting the theaters. 2017 has been relatively a good year as some interesting movies have released and did good business at the box office. Right from Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees and Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil to Akshay Kumar’s Jolly LLB 2 to the recent hit Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan’s Badrinath Ki Dulhania, all have garnered huge praise and box office collections. There have been some hiccups along the way in the form of Rangoon which failed to impress critics and audience alike, the year has been relatively good with regards from the audience view point.

Now, that we have entered into April the year is looking better with quite a few much awaited Bollywood movies slated for release. In April we have Vidya Balan, Gauahar Khan and Ila Arun starrer Begum Jaan, Sonakshi Sinha’s Noor, Raveena Tandon’s hard-hitting drama Maatr and the much awaited Prabhas and Rana Daggubati starred Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. Kamal Haasan’s younger daughter Akshara Haasan and Naseeruddin Shah’s son Vivaan Shah’s movie Laali Ki Shaadi Mein Laddoo Deewana is also slated to be released this month. We’ve compiled a list of Hindi Bollywood movies releasing this April here; check them out so that you can plan your dates better:

1.Laali Ki Shaadi Mein Laddoo Deewana

Laali Ki Shaadi Mein Laddoo Deewana is a quirky, funny family entertainer which will be released on April 7, 2017. The film stars Akshara Hassan younger sister of Shruti Haasan and Vivaan Shah in the lead roles. Gurmeet Choudhary and Kavitta Verma are also hold pivotal roles in the movie. The movie showcases a royal wedding and characters that are trapped in their own life’s tragedies.

2.Mirza Juuliet

Mirza Juuliet is releasing on April 7, 2017. It stars Darshan Kumar, Pia Bajpai, Chandan Roy Sanyal and Priyanshu Chatterjee. The movie has recieved an A rating from the CBFC but has all the raunchy scenes intact. The film is set in North Indian heartland and is rustic and raw in its treatment. Mirza Juuliet is a fight between lust and love.

3.Mukti Bhawan

Mukti Bhawan tells the story of an old aged man (Lalit Behl) who goes to the Mukti Bhawan guesthouse in Varanasi with his middle-aged son (Adil Hussain) to wait for death and eventually gain salvation. The father and son face an unusual situation when they have to wait for 15 days together – one is waiting to die, the other is waiting for the other one’s death. Amidst this unusual circumstance an emotional bond develops between the two which was not there previously. Although the film depicts a grave issue but it is not morbid or depressing. The cast includes Adil Hussain, Lalit Behl, Geetanjali Kulkarni, Palomi Ghosh, Navnindra Behl, and Anil K Rastogi in lead roles. The movie is written and directed by Shubhashish Bhutiani. Mukti Bhawan is releasing on April 7, 2017.

4.Begum Jaan

Begum Jaan stars Vidya Balan in the titular character of Begum Jaan. The movie is a period film and is based during the partition era. The movie is directed by Srijit Mukherji and produced by Mahesh Bhatt, Vishesh Bhatt and Play Entertainment. Vidya Balan plays the role of a brothel’s madam in the late Indian Independence period of 1948. It is the Hindi remake of Bengali film Rajkahini which was also directed by Srijit Mukherji and is loosely based on Shyam Benegal’s 1985 movie Mandi. Gauahar Khan, Ila Arun, Pallavi Sharda, Ashish Vidyarthi, Rajit Kapoor, Chunkey Pandey, Naseeruddin Shah and Vidya Balan make the stellar starcast of the film. Begum Jaan is scheduled to release on April 14, 2017.

Noor is releasing on April 21, 2017 and stars Sonakshi Sinha in the title role. Sonakshi Sinha plays the journalist Noor and it is nice to see her play the role of this urban girl-next-door from her usual desi avatars from her previous movies. Noor is based on the Pakistani author Saba Imtiaz’s novel Karachi! You’re Killing Me! Kanan Gill of Pretentious Reviews fame is making his debut in this film. Maatr is an upcoming revenge thriller that stars Raveena Tandon in the lead role along with Madhur Mittal, Divya Jagdale, Shailender Goyal, Anurag Arora, Saheem Khan and Rushad Rana. The film is written by Micheal Pellico and directed by Ashtar Sayed. Raveena Tandon is looking badass in the movie’s trailer and her acting, performance and screen presence grips you. Raveena Tandon plays a gangrape victim who along with her daughter was gangraped. While she survives the traumatic incident her daughter Tia loses her life. Maatr is the revenge drama where Raveena Tandon goes all out to punish the culprits, who raped her and her daughter albeit, taking the law unto her own hands. Maatr is slated to release on April 21, 2017.

7.Baahubali 2: The Conclusion

One of the most awaited movies of the year Baahubali 2: The Conclusion will be releasing on April 28, 2017. Finally in this sequel we will get the answer to the question ‘Why did Katappa kill Baahubali?’ Baahubali was a stupendous hit when it released in 2015 and since then the movie was eagerly awaited. Baahubali 2 stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubatti, Tamannah Bhatia, Anushka Shetty and Ramya Krishnan. Baahubali 2: The Conclusion is directed by SS Rajamouli and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. The trailer has already generated much buzz and frenzy among the fans and people are eagerly awaiting the release of the movie in Hindi.

8.Baahubali: The Beginning

The first part that in the Baahubali series which was hugely successful is being re-released prior to the release of its second installment. Baahubali: The beginning is slated to re-release on April 7, 2017. The movie which released in 2015 is still talked about two years after its release and has become a part of the Indian popular culture from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to people on Quora talking about it. It is a great opportunity for those people who missed seeing the first part in theaters they can see it now prior to the release of the second and concluding part.
