Think Harry Potter and what do you think? Magic wands, evil wizards, the coolest school in the world but not music – definitely not music. And at that, if we tell you Classical Music, you’ll just look at us like we’re talking of crumple horned snorkacks, but these guys have done just that!

The Indian Jam Project has just managed to turn the score of Harry Potter completely around. The music has been composed by John Williams,  Patrick Doyle, Nicholas Hooper, and Alexandre Desplat but fornthis version it is John’s version that the Indian Jam Project has focused on. The music is hauntingly beautiful and used an array of Indian musical instruments from the tabla, sarangi, flute, santoor and keyboard plus violin to add the perfect Indian classical music effect to the tracks.

Throughout the series, the composers created central themes for characters, events, ideas and locations. There have been themes like Hedwig’s Theme, Harry’s Family Theme, Nimbus 2000, Voldemort’s Theme, Diagon Alley, etc. The Indian Jam Project are a group of musicians from Mumbai who lend a classical touch to western music and themes. Their work has been much loved and the latest Harry Potter musical tribute is just mind-blowing!

With everyone loving their so much, requests for the Dark Knight and LOTR (Lord of the Rings) series seem to be piling up. They have already done Game of Thrones, BBC Sherlock Series, Interstellar, Pirates of the Carribean, etc so far. Which series theme should they “classicize” next you think? Do you like the Harry Potter music video? Or do you think the original was brilliant and shouldn’t have been tampered with. Let us know in comments!
