Desigual is an amazing casual clothing line based in Barcelona, Spain. The brand is noted for its patchwork designs, intense prints, innovative graffiti art and flamboyant splashes of colour thrown together to make their outfits stand out.

But their new commercial has caused quite an uproar for being tasteless, especially since Mother’s Day 2014 is round the corner. The 20-second clip shows the model’s desire to become a mother, which she puts across by appreciating herself in a mirror wearing a synthetic fake baby bump. She removes the fake tummy, pulls out a pin and pokes holes into a pack of condoms!

Even though every woman has the right to want a child and be able to choose when not to get pregnant, this was clearly put across by the brand in poor taste.

Desigual came out to explain that the ad film was produced in response to a new anti-abortion draft law in Spain, which would mandate that women are only allowed abortions in the case of rape or if the foetus poses a threat to the mother’s health.

But poking holes into condoms isn’t about freedom, it indicates deceit! Watch the video below.
