Oscars 2017 will be held on February 26, 2017, at 5.30 pm PST at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. The 89th Academy Awards have been in the news for various reasons. There have been various nominations for Indian origin actors at the Oscars including the recent nomination of Slumdog Millionaire actor Dev Patel. Apart from Mehboob Khand(1958) and Dev Patel (2017), Ismail Merchant, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and KK Kapil, Bhanu Athaiya, Ravi Shankar, Mira Nair, Satyajit Ray, Ashutosh Gowarikar, Ashvin Kumar, Deepa Mehta, Resul Pookutty, A.R. Rahman, Gulzar and Bombay Jayashri have been nominated for the Oscars. Out of these nominations, five Academy Awards have been received by Indian Origin artists at the prestigious award show.
