Hollywood and Bollywood are not exactly known for casting the best actor to suit ethnicity or race for the character. We’ve had Priyanka Chopra playing a North eastern girl in Mary Kom and Hollywood has always held a bad reputation for whitewashing actors and casting them for ethnicity they don’t belong to. The only time Hollywood does a good job of casting is when they are casting for terrorists. So when Disney announced a live action movie remake on Aladdin and called for a global casting call for the role of Aladdin, things started looking up. However, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the Guy Ritchie production is struggling to find a lead for the project even though it’s been four months since the casting process began. However, going by Twitter users there are quite a few actors who can don the role of Aladdin and more specifically our very own Bollywood celebrities can take up the coveted role. Twitterati came up with quite a few legit names, we hope that Guy Ritchie and Disney are listening.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, “finding a male lead in his 20s who can act and sing has proven difficult — especially since the studio wants someone of Middle Eastern or Indian descent.” Disney can’t find a single man who can fit the role of Aladdin to star in the musical. Let that sink in, because we have the biggest film industry in the world which is full of brown actors of Middle Eastern or Indian descent who can dance their way to any woman’s heart and probably sing along too. People on Twitter are politely pointing to Bollywood and India where there are literally thousands of able bodied and talented young men who can fit the role. They have named Hrithik Roshan, Zayn Malik, Fawad Khan, Dev Patel, Ranveer Singh, Avan Jogia and Priyanka Chopra who can very well be cast in the movie Aladdin. Victoria & David Beckham’s Daughter Harper Celebrates Her Birthday In An Elsa Costume At A Special Tea Party With Princess Eugenie

Other than suggestions there were quite a few tweets which ridiculed the usual racial stand of Hollywood. Sample a few below:
