Trouble is brewing strong for makers of Aladdin for casting Naomi Scott as Jasmine. Guy Ritchie’s live action remake of the folktale is being criticised for casting a non-Arab actress in their upcoming movie. Scott who is half Indian and British descent is set to play the Arabic princess in the movie which has irked Twitterati. While Mena Massoud who will play Aladdin is of Egyptian heritage. There were reports that the director was struggling to find the right actors for the role. He was in look for an actress who can also sing and Scott is both an actor and a singer. Critics are irked by the fact that Disney thinks women of Indian and Middle Eastern heritage look the same. The folktale is located in the fictional country of Agrabah which fans have believed to be in the Middle East.

Most said that movie industries must cast people from various ethnicities to do justice to a role that is already set in the minds of people.
