Ramayana

Navratri and Dussehra have just gone by, and it’s time for the festival of Diwali now! Diwali 2015 falls on November 11. But do you know why it is celebrated? Just like Dussehra marks the defeat of Demon Ravana at the hands of Lord Rama and his army of supporters, Diwali marks the return of the Lord to Ayodhya after the war and his 14-year exile.

Diwali, like Dussehra or Vijayadashmi, marks the victory of good over evil – of Rama over Ravana. Dussehra marked the arrival of Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights. Rama waged a war against Ravana because he had kidnapped his wife, Goddess Sita, and held her in captivity in his kingdom Lanka. Ravana was in love with Sita and wanted to marry her.

Lord Rama managed to rescue Goddess Sita with the help of his devotee Lord Hanuman and various other supporters. Know the connection of Ramayana with the festival of lights through this animation video, especially made for kids.

Happy Diwali!
