Mandy Horvath lost both her legs after she was run over on a railway track in Steele City, Kansas. Mandy’s drink was spiked on the day of the fatal accident and when she woke up she was lying next to railway tracks without her legs. When she was brought to the hospital, doctors initially thought she was saved while trying to kill herself. And by the time she regained consciousness, it was too late to chemically test her body for ‘date rape’ drugs. After all the trauma she went through, Mandy was determined not to leave her disability stop her from leading a normal life.

Following which, she set a Tinder profile filled with dark comedy in the bio about her missing legs. In her Tinder bio, the double amputee who lives in Colorado says she will ‘never run away’ and is taking her condition ‘in her stride’. Talking about her wicked sense of humor and Tinder bio, she told Daily Mail, “My sense of humor in my Tinder bio is so funny, the jokes people send back have me in fits of laughter. People tend to love how open I am and it’s definitely helped secure a few dates.” Being too self-conscious, Mandy avoided dating for years for a long time. However, she finally decided to set up a Tinder profile after watching an inspirational video on YouTube about dating as a disabled woman.

She also said, “When I tried to date after I lost my legs I would always get guys asking me ‘how does sex work for you?’, and it completely put me off dating. I was completely alienated from any sort of romantic opportunity due to my own lack of insight. But now that I’ve broken the ice and sexualized my disability with my humor, I am acknowledged as an individual rather than someone bound to a wheelchair.” While a lot of people were supportive and kind to her on Tinder, she is yet to have found love. Earlier this year, Tinder profile of a woman with one arm from California had gone viral after she wrote a similar hilarious bio.
