One of Instagram’s favourite poet, Rupi Kaur who has been a solace during tough times for her fans through her writings, is all set for her Indian trip. Her recent Instagram post reads says that she will be on an Indian tour all through January, February and March. Her poems on love, relationships, breakups, sex have made her one of the most revered instapoets in the current clan. With over 2.1 million followers, Rupi Kaur’s take on beauty standards, racism, abuse is also popular among fans. Her Instagram post on Indian tour reads, “january. february. march. india!!!!! it’s finally happening. i’m yours.” And the comments section is filled with excited fans and followers asking which city she will be visiting.
Kaur’s debut collection, Milk and Honey, has sold more than 1.5 million copies and even made its way to New York Times Bestseller List. However, her choice of words and style of writing have always been criticised. Kaur has also received backlash over plagiarism claims by another young poet, Nayyirah Waheed who posts poems on social media. She had accused Kaur of ignoring her messages about the similarities between their works. Rupi who was born in Punjab moved to Canada with her parents at the age of four. She was inspired by her mother to draw and paint and studied Rhetoric and Professional Writing at the University of Waterloo in Ontario.
