This talking egg was a project created by three British advertising executives who teamed with Hulu for a 30-second public-service announcement promoting mental-health awareness.

It all started when an Instagram account with the name world_record_egg shared a picture of an egg on January 4, 2019, and captioned it “Let’s set a world record together and get the most liked post on Instagram. Beating the current world record held by Kylie Jenner (18 million)! We got this”.

A London-based ad executive Chris Godfrey was curious to see if a picture of a simple egg can get famous and become a social-media star. Post seeing the response it got, Godfrey worked with two friends C.J. Brown and Alissa Khan-Whelan and kept the account going – the trio revealed to The New York Times. While the page now has more than 10 million followers, the first post now has 52.4 million likes.
