In one of the shocking incidents of its kind, a 15-year-old was allegedly gang raped and the video was streamed live on Facebook inChicago, United States. Chicago police are in hunt of six suspects who allegedly committed the crime. The live stream which was watched by 40 people did nothing to stop the incident or save the girl. The incident came to light when the victim’s mother filed a missing complaint at the head of Chicago Police. She also showed police screengrabs of the assault from the video and said that her daughter has been missing since Sunday. The girl was later rescued on Tuesday evening by the police.

“It’s disgusting. As a father of two daughters, I can’t imagine what that mom is going through,” Chicago’s police chief Eddie Johnson was quoted saying on Tuesday. It is not the first time a similar incident was live streamed on the social networking site. In the recent past, a group of youth had kidnapped and tortured a gagged schizophrenic 18-year-old and broadcast the video in a Facebook live. The accused were from Chicago were later arrested.  In yet another incident, earlier in January, a Swedish woman was gang raped and the video was live streamed on Facebook for almost three hours. Reportedly, the men laughed and threatened the woman while the viewers did not report the incident. Those rapists then again went live on the social media and continued with the video until the police arrived in the flat and turned off the camera. The men were thereafter arrested. There has been a rise in such crimes in the recently in Chicago. The city saw the highest number of shootings and murders in nearly two decades. Most of such crimes have been concentrated in a few areas
