Slut shaming and pulling down women on social media has become the new fad. Every day we hear stories of women being harassed and trolled on social media and on the internet for the way they look and for the clothes that they wear. Every time you hear about a woman being a victim of sexual crime the first question that gets asked is, “what was she wearing? She must be asking for it.” In a similar situation, a girl who goes by the Twitter handle @itsindysev  and on YouTube under the name Indy Blue got slut-shamed for her Halloween outfit when she took inspiration from a Paris Hilton outfit and went on to don the dress. She looked absolutely amazing in the attire but as is the behaviour of social media trolls, they abuse and slut-shamed her for it. However, she received support for her daring from an unexpected source – Paris Hilton herself! Paris Hilton commented on her photo and wrote, “That’s hot.”

Paris Hilton, the American hotel heiress has made a name for herself in the world of fashion, reality TV and is a television and media personality. Paris Hilton has also made a name for herself in singing and her single “Stars are Blind” became an instant hit upon its release. @itsindysev looked pretty classy in her Halloween outfit which looks inspired from a Paris Hilton look but she did carry it off well and looked resplendent in it. @itsindysev has quite a number of followers on Twitter and the best part was the video that she shared about one of the best summers of her life. She wrote on Twitter, “I got slut-shamed for my Halloween costume but then Paris Hilton commented “that’s hot” on my picture & literally that’s it that’s the story,” while sharing pictures of herself and Paris Hilton. This incident only goes on to prove the unnecessary attention and pressure that women face all around the world. It is really surprising to know that on Halloween, a festival where you dress up in a costume and pretend to be a zombie, ghost or a ghoul can also lead to women being objectified and slut-shamed.
