Online search engine, Google, is an integral part of our lives. From the slightest of queries to know about cricket, beauty tips, news, we depend on it. Now, Google’s ‘Year in Search: Insights for Brands’ report has brought out some interesting facts about Indians. The report shows the trends and patterns of Google searches and the overall usage of the internet in India. As per the reports, Indians look for dating-related queries more than matrimonial searches on Google. There have been 75% increase in the ‘Near Me’ queries and 100% growth for co-working spaces search.

Some online dating apps have the feature called ‘near me’ where users are matched based on their geographical distance. According to the report, there are 40 million new users every month and around 400 million Indians online. Not only this but searches related to dating is catching up to the searches on matrimony.

Google has also projected 500 million audiences who search for videos related to entertainment. On YouTube, top searches are for beauty tips including hair and skin care, makeup tutorials and so on. People have also been searching for ayurvedic health remedies and ingredients.

Vikas Agnihotri, Country Director of Google India said in a statement, “The online space in India has never been more vibrant. India has become the fastest Internet consuming country in the world and the Internet has now become the bridge to the country’s aspirations. As highlighted in the report, the growing influence of online videos, increase in usage of language and voice, along with a rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) are opportunities for brands and marketers.”
