While we were gung ho on Queen B’s exuberant performance at the 59th Grammy Awards 2017, Indian sitar player and composer Anoushka Shankar was nominated in the World Music category nomination. But losing the Grammy for the sixth time, this time to cellist Yo-Yo Ma, Anoushka Shankar had received her first Grammy nomination at the age of 20. Daughter of famous sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar, Anoushka did India proud yet again! Anoushka was nominated for her album “Land of Gold” that highlighted the global refugee crisis and was accompanied by her husband and British director Joe Wright. Visibly excited, she took to the mico-blogging site, Twitter and tweeted,

“Very excited that this man is my date to the #grammys today! It’s the first time he’s been free to join me. #husband #JoeWright #love,” she tweeted.

While she did make us proud, she made us prouder by flaunting India’s most feted designer Sabyasachi’s creation on the red carpet. Here are the style deets of Anoushka Shankar’s red carpet look from the Grammy Awards 2017.

What Anoushka Shankar Wore

Wearing a red embroidered velvet Sabyasachi Mukherjee dress, Anoushka Shankar rocked details like thigh-high slits on both sides and an aesthetic plunge. She had teamed her dress with a gold clutch and strappy metallic stilettos. With her signature nose ring adding a zing, her makeup by Oli Jae comprised nude mauve matte lips, dramatic but delicately done eyes, and bushy high cheekbones. She sported a messy hairdo for this look with stray strands cascading on either side.

Buzz Style Verdict

A breath of fresh air, Sabyasachi’s ensemble on the international red carpet worked wonders for Anoushka Shankar! We rate her a perfect 5/5 and applaud for her sartorial choice and pulling it off with elan!
