Self-style Sadhvi Jai Shree Giri who was on parole for a medical check-up escaped while the cops watched Box Office hit movie Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. She persuaded the police to let her take a walk in the Himalayan Mall in Ahmedabad after the medical check-up. The 45-year-old also went to a spa and watched Baahubali from where she fled under the pretext of going to the washroom. Four Ahmedabad police officers who accompanied her were new in the force and have been arrested for negligence.
Sadhvi was the head of Mukteshwar Mahadev Mutth in Banaskantha district in Gujarat earlier. She was arrested by the police in January 2017 when police recovered Rs 1.25 crore in Rs 2,000 denomination and 2.4 kg of gold at her premises during a raid. Giri had an unpaid bill of Rs 5 crore for gold biscuits she bought from a jeweler in November 2016. Ahmedabad police commissioner A K Singh said that the Gujarat High Court on June 4 had granted her a 10-day parole under police escort. JK Bhatt, Joint Commissioner of Police, Ahmedabad Crime Branch told NDTV, “She went for a massage in Himalayan Mall, and watched Baahubali 2. She was also continuously on phone seeking to know if her parole could be extended.” Bhatt said that she escaped after knowing that the parole could not be extended. Bhatt also said that she gave the policemen the impression that she won’t escape. Bhatt said, “The policemen who guarded her had joined the force just a few months ago.” Police are now studying CCTV footage and questioning police constables deployed at the hospital. (Image-News 18)
