Rohith Vemula was one student politician who questioned the workings of the system and tried his best to fight against them. His heart breaking story of politics on the grounds of University of Hyderabad and the turn that it took broke millions of hearts and raised the concern of many. Nearly two months after his tragic suicide, Hansal Mehta came out with the best possible way to remember Rohith and everything that he stood for.
The Aligarh director has made this a video which has actor Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub, this ten minute narrative has the entire suicide note, word to word. The video captures the dark thoughts penned by the PhD student right before his untimely death. Rohith, who aspired to be a science related writer, like Carl Sagan, mentioned all his dream and ambitions in this letter with various strong points.
The letter in itself has various high points, which have been magnified in this tribute video, titled Reach For The Stars. The strongest part of the video was on the statement “The value of a man was reduced to his immediate identity and nearest possibility” and the heart wrenching statement which translates to “I was a lover of science, stars and the nature, and then I started loving people.”
This tribute video was released at the India Today Conclave 2016, which also features an intensive session of “Why are Students so angry”, which mainly had various students from different universities and unions speaking out about the ongoing problems in our country. Watch this heart wrenching video right here and cry your heart out at the state of affairs.
