Potterheads around the world will rejoice after hearing this news because now they would be able to play a game based on Harry Potter universe. Everybody who loves Harry Potter has imagined receiving their Hogwarts letter, owning a magic wand and probably flying on a Firebolt, now maybe these dreams might come to become a reality. The makers of the hugely successful and popular game Pokemon Go that took the world by storm are planning to come up with a game based on the Harry Potter universe after huge demands from the fandom. Niantic, the makers of Pokemon Go are making a Harry Potter version of the popular game. It will allow players to cast spells and fight magical beasts and other things. The game is named Harry Potter: Wizards Unite and will be launched in 2018.
Pokemon Go, the augmented reality game took the world by surprise and everyone was hooked on to it. However, many Potterheads demanded that a similar game be developed which would be based on the Harry Potter magical world created by author JK Rowling. In a blog post, Niantic wrote, “With Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, players that have been dreaming of becoming real life Wizards will finally get the chance to experience J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World. Players will learn spells, explore their real world neighborhoods and cities to discover & fight legendary beasts and team up with others to take down powerful enemies.” JK Rowling’s Harry Potter Pitch That Was Rejected By Publishers, On Display At British Library In London
The Harry Potter: Wizards Unite game will use a similar augmented reality mobile technology as was used in the Pokemon Go game and is co-developed by Warner Bros. Interactive. In a press release, David Haddad, President of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment said, “With this game, we are allowing the passionate, worldwide fan base to explore J.K. Rowling’s deeply powerful and imaginative universe in a new, truly immersive way.” This is probably the best news that the Harry Potter fans have heard in a long time, alas, 2018 cannot come early enough!
