She has walked the runway, acted, and now she sings, too! There’s clearly no stopping this woman. Priyanka Chopra has established herself as a versatile celebrity, and made an impact at the video premiere of her latest single I Can’t Make You Love Me.

The track, which is from the electronic dance music genre, is Priyanka’s third single to date – if you don’t count her cameo with The Chainsmokers titled Erase.

While the single was released at a GUESS event in January, Priyanka being the first Indian face of the brand, the video premiere event happened in New York City.

As soon as the IIFA Awards 2014 concluded in Florida where she also performed, Priyanka flew over to NYC to attend her premiere.

And the beautiful and talented actress did not fail to make heads turn. In what could have been a fashion disaster, she still managed to salvage the blue fringe dress by Tamara Mellon. Though the top half of the dress was passable, the bottom with the fringes could have been done away with. And that awful satin material did not help. What really brought the whole ensemble down was the purple shoes that Priyanka wore. To be honest, she still did look fantastic in most of her pictures, but that only happened because she is absolutely gorgeous.

There were many celebrities at the launch of the video, including designer Manish Malhotra and TV show host Nick Cannon. The Miss World 2000 filmed the video in February, and it was directed by Jeff Nicholas and Jonathan Craven. Besides her, it also stars the dashing star from the show Heroes, Milo Ventimiglia.

The video is sensuous and fun (watch it below), and adds to the charm of the remade song. The story behind the video is a one-sided romantic relationship that is on the verge of ending. It shows some tender, yet playful moments between the two ‘lovers’, including a Holi-inspired sequence.

Stating that the song was one of her favourites from her upcoming album, Priyanka said, “It’s my ode to a classic, a song that I love, and one that says so much – this is for the actor in me.” The video officially releases on Vevo on April 30.

Priyanka’s track is a contemporary cover of the ballad originally performed by legend Bonnie Raitt, which was released in 1991. Priyanka has said that Raitt was one of the reasons she decided to explore her singing side.

However, there are core differences. While the original is a soulful ballad, this one is lively and upbeat, with a strong EDM influence. The upbeat version was previously recorded by American singer Ester Dean. Priyanka’s song was released on iTunes on the April 22 this year.

All three singles that Priyanka has released so far – the other two being In My City featuring Will.i.am and Exotic featuring Pitbull – are part of her highly-anticipated maiden studio album that is to be released later this year.
