A Hyderabad businessman could not believe his eyes when he opened a parcel that he ordered from e-commerce giant Flipkart. The 24-year-old who had ordered a DSLR camera received a stone and toy cameras instead. Vinay, 24-year-old resident of Nagole who works at a private rice mill machinery manufacturing unit at the IDA (Industrial Development Area) in Uppal had placed an order for Canon EOS 700 D camera on September 4. According to the company, the camera worth Rs 41,000 was shipped but Vinay received a dummy one instead.
When Vinay contacted the Customer care service of the e-tailer, he was told that the original camera was shipped to him. Finding no respite, Vinay has lodged a complaint with the LB Nagar police. The Times of India quoted LB Nagar sub-inspector (SI) K Saidulu as saying, “On September 5 evening, Vinay received a parcel through a delivery executive. Vinay opened the parcel and found a stone along with two compact dummy cameras sold as child toys instead of the Canon DSLR camera.”
Talking about the reaction of the customer care, Saidulu said, “After verifying the database, the customer service staff told Vinay that their records clearly indicate that genuine Canon DSLR camera was shipped to Vinay’s address. Vinay then contacted the delivery executive and he told him that he did not open the parcel.” He also said, “We are referring the case to Cyber Crime police of Rachakonda commissionerate.” There have been several incidents in the past when Flipkart customers received stones or a bar of soap instead of smartphones or other products. Several complaints were also registered against the online shopping website in the past.
