As of now, it is 1-1 between Virat Kohli and Rubel Hossain. The two cricketers haven’t had the merriest of history every time India and Bangladesh have taken on each other in a World cup encounter. In 2011, which also happened to be Kohli’s debut match, the Delhi batsman scored an unbeaten century to follow up on Virender Sehwag’s blazing knock of 175. During the course of the innings he also had some colourful expletives reserved for Hossain (view the video below). His knock helped India register a massive win the 2011 edition of the World Cup.
Four years later, in the next edition, the two sides took on each other in the quarterfinals. This time, however, Hossain had the last laugh. Kohli tried to chase a wide away going delivery and got an outside edge of the bat, which was safely taken by the wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim. This time, Hossain didn’t hold back in returning the favour.
When the two sides take on each other in India’s upcoming tour of Bangladesh starting on June 10, the battle between Hossain and Kohli will be interesting to see.
