The Rajasthan government will honour the bravery displayed by Indian Air Force Pilot Abhinandan Varthaman by including his story in the state’s school syllabus. Abhinandan recently shot down a Pakistani F-16 warplane before his MiG 21 was downed forcing him to fall in Pakistani territory. The wing commander became an overnight hero following his arrest, detention and eventual release by Pakistani authorities last week.
The Rajasthan education minister Govind Singh Dotasra announced the news on social media. As per the minister, Abhinandan will now feature in school textbooks. #AbhinandanDiwas @DIPRRajasthan“.
