A photo of a tea cup with PM Narendra Modi’s campaign slogan ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ printed on it is going viral. The picture is uploaded by an Indian Railway passenger, who travelled in the New Delhi Kathgodam Shatabdi Express. He was reportedly served tea in a cup with ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ printed on it. It has been claimed that tea was served in these cups twice and the advertisement was by an NGO Sankalp Foundation.

As the image of the paper cup on Kathgodam Shatabdi went viral, the Indian Railway said it has withdrawn the cup and penalised the contractor. There were multiple tweets that tagged the Election Commission, saying it is a violation of the Election Code of Conduct.

Pantry supervisors and in-charges said that this was without any prior approval of IRCTC.

This issue comes days after Indian Railways was found in violation of the poll code for issuing tickets with PM Modi’s pictures on them.

According to PTI, a fine of Rs 1 lakh has been imposed on the service provider and a show cause notice has also been served to them for this misconduct.
