TV czarina Ekta Kapoor has recently created a buzz about adapting the Bollywood star-studded family affair, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham in a television show format, and we can’t get more excited. Karan Johar’s 2001 blockbuster, K3G featured Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor, Kajol and Jaya Bachchan in lead roles. The characters have etched their place in the audience’s memories and enjoy a strong presence in pop culture references, even almost two decades after the movie’s release. The casting for these memorable roles must be a crucial task, but who better than Ekta Kapoor can take it up.
Titled Dil Hi Toh Hai, the TV remake will feature Pyaar Toh Hona Hi Tha actor Bijoy Anand, who will be seen playing the role of Amitabh Bachchan aka Yash Raichand in the show. Now, as per a report in Mumbai Mirror, newbie Yogita Bihani has bagged her big break and she will be seen as Anjali (Kajol’s character) in Dil Hi Toh Hai. Bihani’s recent popularity is credited to her appearance in the promo alongside Salman Khan for his upcoming game show, Dus Ka Dum.
A source close to Mumbai Mirror further stated that “Erica Fernandes of Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi was being considered for the part but thanks to Yogita’s newfound popularity she will play the part in the show which is titled Dil Hi Toh Hai.”
Ekta Kapoor has recently dropped a hint on Twitter that she will be bringing in a family drama and it was confirmed that indeed she will recreate the movie on the small screen. She wrote, “A family soap after years !!! Mostly done love stories recently with d backdrop of family!!
