Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan welcomed their baby boy today at Breach Candy Hospital at 7:30 am. The new parents confirmed the news to the media by issuing a joint statement, which reads, “We are very pleased to share with you all the wonderful news about the birth of our son : Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi, on the 20th of December 2016. We would like to thank the media for the understanding and support they have given us over the last 9 months, and of course especially our fans and well wishers for their continued affection. Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you all…With love, Saif & Kareena Thank you.” Saif and Kareena have always maintained that they are looking forward to be parents and enter this new phase in their lives. Saif had said previously about the baby “There is something about a baby… that it’s kind of half of mine and half Kareena’s, so it’s a nice feeling.”

Randhir Kapoor, Kareena and Karishma Kapoor’s father also confirmed the news about her newborn and said, “We are extremely excited and very happy for my daughter and my grandson and I want to thank all the well-wishers who have prayed and wished äll their very best to Kareena and Saif.” On the health of Kareena and her son, Randhir replied, “They are doing very well.” Karan Johar who is a great friend of Kareena Kapoor broke the news in the morning on Twitter. He tweeted:

The newborn has been named Taimur Ali Khan and in no time Kareena Kapoor and Taimur Ali Khan were the top trends on Twitter. Twitter was flooded with people who have either loved the name or related it to the barbaric ruler Timur. However, it must be noted that the kid’s name is Taimur and not Timur who was a Turco-Mongol conqueror and the founder of the Timurid Empire in Persia and Central Asia

People took to Twitter to congratulate the proud parents while some poked fun at the name.

So here is Taimur Ali Khan who joins the league of starkids with unusual baby names. Guess Blue Ivy and North West have competition now?
