Srinagar, Sept 13: The first-ever marathon scheduled in war-torn state of Jammu and Kashmir turned into a disaster. Separatists groups utilised the opportunity to showcase their protest against the Union of India by disrupting the marathon and waiving flags of Pakistan.
The marathon, promoted and organized by radio channel Big FM kicked off in a brilliant manner from the Kashmir University in Srinagar on Sunday morning. The event managers had planned to conclude the marathon at the scenic Dal lake. However, by the time it reached the Hazratbal region, agitators had gathered in huge numbers. The rally was abruptly halted by stone-pelting protesters. Apart from anti-India slogans, Pakistan flags were raised to further show their disgust towards New Delhi.
