When we think of football our imagination always runs to Brazil or Argentina. But this time around this piece of sensational news comes from an unlikely source – Iran. A 25-year-old Iranian student named Reza Parastesh was taken to a police station for looking too much like Lionel Messi. The city of Hamaden came to a standstill when too many people wanted to take a picture with Reza Parastesh that it disrupted the city’s traffic and police had to impound his car to stop the chaos and clear traffic. The resemblance is so uncanny that at first glance one would think that they are seeing Lionel Messi himself and not a lookalike. Eurosport UK reportedyly used his photo instead of Lionel Messi’s by accident on Twitter.

Reza Parastesh’s dad made him pose in a number 10 Barcelona jersey and since then the fuss started. His father also sent his photographs to a sports website. The 25-year-old student soon started cutting his hair and grooming his beard like the Argentina forward. Although he was a little skeptical before but now enjoys his role as the lookalike and has been fully booked with media interviews and has even landed a modeling contract. Iranians who are obsessed with football see him as the Iranian Messi and wants him to mimic the football idol in everything he does. Reza Parastesh finds himself being mobbed by fans asking for a selfie. Reza Parastesh loves football but has never played professionally but now is trying to save some tricks up his sleeve so that he can better mimic football great Lionel Messi. His goal now is to meet his idol and probably land a job as his understudy so that the footballer can keep up his media appointments and appearances.
