The 89th Academy Awards are over, Sunny Pawar has landed back in India, Emma Stone and Casey Affleck have taken their Oscars home and must be smirking with their victory. Viola Davis became the first black woman to win an Oscar, a Tony and an Emmy award. Warren Beatty and Faye Dunawaye pulled a Steve Harvey at the Dolby Theatre and announced La La Land as Best Picture instead of Moonlight. Mahershala Ali became the first Muslim to win an Oscar and President Donald trump got royally trolled and snubbed at the Academy Awards by Jimmy Kimmel. But post the entire hullabaloo now what? What else is round the corner that we can look forward to? Well what else then cool Hollywood movies that will release in March!

The Hollywood releases slated for this month are some of the biggest and most awaited movies of the year. There are quite a number of biggies who are gearing up to score at the box office. There are plenty of Hollywood releases that will cater to everybody’s choice as they span action, comedy, romance, drama and thriller. Hugh Jackman, Emma Watson, Ian McKellan, Patrick Stewart, Halle Berry, Kristen Stewart, Ryan Reynolds will all be gracing our theaters this March.  Logan, Beauty and the Beast, The Boss Baby, Power Rangers all will be releasing this year. There is a diverse mix of movies releasing this month and they will keep the cine addict in you happy. 1. Logan – Releasing March 3, 2017

Logan is the last outing of Hugh Jackman in his career defining role as Wolverine. Hugh Jackman will once again don the role and fight the bad guys with his X-Men teammate Professor Xavier played by Patrick Stewart. Hugh Jackman is finally losing his self-healing properties and is shown taking care of an ailing Professor Xavier. They are joined by a young girl called Laura Kinney (played by Dafne Keen) who also has Wolverine like claws and the pent up rage. 2. Patriots Day – Releasing March 3, 2017

Patriots Day is a powerful story of a community’s courage in the face of terror. The film is based on the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing and the subsequent terrorist manhunt. The film stars Mark Wahlberg, Kevin Bacon, John Goodman, J.K.Simmons and Michelle Monaghan. The movie could not make money at the American box office when released on January 13, 2017. The film however, has received positive reviews for its direction and the acting of the star cast and was chosen by the National Board of Review as one of the top ten films of 2016. The film is scheduled to release on March 3, 2017 in India.

3. The Wall – Releasing on March 10, 2017
The Wall is an upcoming film directed by Doug Liman and written by Dwain Worrell. The film is about two American soldiers trapped by an Iraqi sniper with only an unsteady wall between them. The film stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson and John Cena Their fight becomes as much a battle of will and wits as it is of lethally accurate marksmanship. Watch the trailer here:

4. All Nighter – Releasing on March 10, 2017
All Nighter is a comedy film directed by Gavin Wiesen and written by Seth W. Owen. The film stars J.K.Simmons, Emile Hirsch, Analeigh Tipton, and Kristen Schaal. J.K.Simmons plays a globe-trotting workaholic father who when trying to visit his daughter on a last minute layover in Los Angeles discovers that she has disappeared. In his quest to discover her whereabouts he enlists the help of her nervous ex-boyfriend Emile Hirsch who is still nursing a broken heart over the course of one crazy night.

5. Personal Shopper – Releasing on March 10, 2017
Personal Shopper stars Kristen Stewart in the lead. It follows the life of Kristen Stewart, an American in Paris working for a celebrity as a Personal Shopper. She has a special ability with which she can talk to spirits like her recently deceased twin brother. Soon she starts receiving ambiguous messages from an unknown source. Personal Shopper reunites Kristen Stewart with “Clouds of Sils Maria” director Olivier Assayas. The film was premiered at 2016 Cannes Film Festival and was controversial since at a press screening it was booed but later received a standing ovation when it was premiered.

6. Kidnap – Releasing on March 10, 2017
Kidnap is directed by Luis Prieto and written by Knate Gwaltney. The film stars Academy Award winner Halle Berry, Sage Correa, Lew Temple and Chris McGinn. As the name suggests Kidnap is a story of a mother who tries to find her abducted son. Halle Berry plays Karla McCoy whose son gets kidnapped in front of her eyes from an amusement park. She goes out on a mission to rescue her son from the kidnapper and doesn’t stop at any cost.

7. Kong: Skull Island – Releasing on March 10, 2017
Kong: Skull Island is a monster film directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts and written by Dan Gilroy and Max Borenstein, from a story by John Gatins and Gilroy. The film is a reboot of the King Kong franchise and a prequel to the 2014 film Godzilla. The film boasts an ensemble cast with heavyweights such as Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman, Brie Larson, Jing Tian, Toby Kebbell, John Ortiz, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, Shea Whigham, Thomas Mann, Terry Notary, and John C. Reilly. A secret organization known as Monarch finds a mysterious island that is the home for the origin of new species. The expedition reveals King Kong a giant ape, who wants to save the island and his species from apex predators named “skullcrawlers”.

8. Beauty and the Beast – Releasing on March 17, 2017
Beauty and the Beast is the live-action remake of the Disney classic of the same name. Emma Watson plays Belle in this movie while Dan Stevens plays the Beast. Ian McKellen, Ewan McGregor, Emma Thompson, Luke Evans and Josh Gad feature in this much awaited movie of the year. Reportedly, Beauty and the Beast will feature an openly gay character in the form of LeFou played by Josh Gad. Belle in a lot of way is the quintessential 21st century heroine. She is resourceful, strong and tries to find a way out of her problems. 9. The Sense of an Ending – Releasing March 24, 2017
The Sense of an Ending is a drama film directed by Ritesh Batra and written by Nick Payne, based on the novel of the same name by Julian Barnes. The film stars Jim Broadbent, Charlotte Rampling, Harriet Walter, Emily Mortimer and Michelle Dockery. Ritesh Batra had previously directed the much acclaimed Irrfan Khan and Nimrat Kaur starrer The Lunchbox.

10. CHiPs – Releasing on March 24, 2017
Chips is n action comedy buddy cop film written and directed by Dax Shepard based on the television series of the same name created by Rick Rosner. The film stars Dax Shepard as Officer Jon Baker and Michael Peña as Frank “Ponch” Poncherello. The two joins the California Highway Patro (CHP) in Los Angeles but for very different reasons. Jon Baker is a beaten up pro-motorbiker who is trying to put his life and family together while Poncherello is a cocky undercover FBI Agent investigating a multi-million dollar heist that may be an inside job. The two are teamed together and their partnership might work if they don’t drive each other crazy.

11. Life – Releasing March 24, 2017
Life is a science fiction horror film directed by Daniel Espinosa. The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson and Ryan Reynolds. The plot revolves around the crew aboard the International Space Station. The story is of a six-member crew that is on the cutting edge of one of the most important discoveries in human history: the first evidence of extraterrestrial life on Mars. As the crew begins to conduct research their methods end up having consequences and the life form that they are studying proves to be more intelligent than them.

12. The Zoo Keeper’s Wife – Releasing on March 31, 2017
The Zoo Keeper’s wife is a British-American war drama directed by Niki Caro and written by Angela Workman. It is based on the non-fiction book of the same name written by Diane Ackerman. The film stars Jessica Chastain, Johan Heldenbergh, Michael McElhatton and Daniel Brühl. The Zoo Keeper’s wife is based on a real-life couple Jan and Antonina Zabinski who helped hundreds of people and animals during World War II while they were the keepers of the Warsaw Zoo. When Poland gets invaded by the German Nazis they are forced to report to Reich’s newly appointed chief zoologist, Lutz Heck (Daniel Brühl). They try to fight the war on their own terms and covertly transform the zoo as a hideout and hide people in animal cages during the Nazi invasion.

13. The Boss Baby – Releasing on March 31, 2017
The Boss Baby is an animated film that is unusual in many ways. The main protagonist here – a baby wears a suit, carries a briefcase and speaks with the voice and wit of Alec Baldwin and prefers sushi over milk. The Boss Baby revolves around a new baby’s arrival in the family and how it impacts everyone especially his older brother 7 year-old Tim. 14. The Salesman – Releasing on March 31, 2017

The Salesman won the Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards this year. Directed by Asghar Farhadi, the movie stars Taraneh Alidoosti and Shahab Hosseini in leading roles. The film’s trailer for Indian audiences was recently launched. The movie also won Best Screenplay and Best Actor (Shahab Hosseini) awards at the Cannes Film Festival 2016.
