Maharashtra Day is also referred to as Maharashtra Diwas, is celebrated on May 1 along with May Day or Labour Day. Today, Maharashtra gained its statehood so therefore, the foundation day calls for special celebrations and festivities to celebrate Maharashtra Day. The special occasion was celebrated with a parade, held at Shivaji Park in Mumbai. According to ANI, the ceremonial parade was attended by Governor C Vidya Sagar Rao and other VIPs. It is an annual affair and is held to commemorate the state’s formation day. The Governor delivers a political speech on the occasion. The State Reserve Police Force (SRPF), the Mumbai Police and personnel of the Home Guards participate in the annual parade.
According to the history, on this day in 1960, Maharashtra gained its statehood. It’s all about commemorating the state and how it has come about to be the modern state it is today. On this day, Maharashtrians recognize the importance of the state and it is an important part of their culture.

President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and greeted people of Maharashtra.
