Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi starring Kangana Ranaut leaked online on the torrent sites by piracy giant Tamil Rockers. The film which was released on January 25 was leaked within a few hours of its release. The full HD movie has been leaked and is available online for illegal downloading. However, this does not come as a surprise as they have also leaked Nawazuddin Siddique’s starrer film, Thackeray. Not only this, but they also leaked Uri: The Surgical Strike even after warning from the court. The film has received positive reviews and was expected to do good at the box office but now it might have a significant impact on the box office collection.
Earlier, big films such as The Accidental Prime Minister, Petta, Thugs of Hindostan, 2.0 among others have become a victim to the notorious website.
However, despite the upload, the audience has been going to theatres to watch the period drama, all thanks to the controversies the film was embroiled into since the announcement of the film.
The film is a biopic on the life of one of the most celebrated female Indian warrior, Queen of Jhansi, Rani Laxmibai. Kangana plays the titular role. Directed by Krish Jagarlamudi, the movie also features Ankita Lokhande, Jisshu Sengupta and Zeeshan Ayyub in pivotal roles.
Tamil Rockers has become infamous for leaking the pirated versions of the film in various languages. The notorious website started by leaking south Indian movies, but now even English and Hindi movies are getting leaked online. The team of Tamil Rockers keeps changing their domain name constantly and hence they manage to leak every single movie.
The Information and Broadcasting Ministry has proposed amendments in the Cinematograph Act to curb the piracy. In the draft, the ministry has proposed to make film piracy and illegal downloading a punishable offence with imprisonment of three years and fine up to Rs 10 lakh.
Piracy is a cruel act and there is zero tolerance for it.
