Seven months down and the revolutionary movement started last year in India by actress Tanushree Dutta is yet to claim justice as no case has been filed yet against her alleged perpetrator and Horn Ok Pleassss co-star Nana Patekar. In spite of investigating 12 to 15 witnesses, most of whom were background dancers or even Daisy Shah, who was assistant to choreographer Ganesh Acharya during the song’s shoot, couldn’t recall the unfortunate incident that took place on the sets a decade ago, as per latest reports.

Though Daisy had recorded her statement last year only in November and told the police that she was unable to recall the incident, the same was reiterated by the other 12-15 witnesses that the Oshiwara police tried to approach for a convincing statement in favour of Tanushree so as to register an FIR in the matter.

In October 2018, Tanushree recounted an old accusation she made against actor Nana Patekar for alleged sexual harassment on the sets of their 2008 film Horn OK Pleasssss. Her case led the #MeToo wave in India as it opened the floodgates for numerous other women from every walk of life to come forward with their stories of facing sexual harassment at the hands of the powerful men.

After sparking the revolutionary movement in India, Tanushree returned to the US earlier this year and resumed life as it was before the #MeToo movement saw her in the midst of media attention. Seven months hence, Tanushree’s case is yet to see the light of the day. Asserting that the police was approaching Nana’s friends who obviously wouldn’t report against him,Tanushree said that the others were threatened by his men and told Mid-day, “The cops have been so slow with the probe. Most of the people from whom they are taking statements are the ones who watched me getting harassed and did nothing to support me. So why will they now speak in my support. The mentality of people is such that they will lie to protect such criminals and prove the woman wrong. Some of the witnesses who wish to give statements in support of my story are receiving threat calls from Nana’s people. We have faced a lot of difficulty in convincing witnesses to give their statements, as they are scared. So the people who know the truth are being hounded and replaced by fake witnesses who are speaking lies. But I still have faith that all the accused will be punished, because I am fighting this battle not for myself but for those who suffer silently everyday.”
