On March 14, a foot overbridge collapsed outside the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) railway station in Mumbai. As per the reports, the deadly incident took place when the bridge was overloaded with commuters hurrying to their homes. In the incident, at least five people were killed and 32 others were injured. This is the second bridge that collapsed in the last one year in Mumbai. Many Bollywood celebrities took to social media to express their anger and grief over the incident that has shaken the nation.
Amitabh Bachchan took to Twitter to express his condolences also prayed for the deceased ones. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his anger and have wished for the earliest recovery of the injured people. Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar also prayed for the injured ones to suffered injuries during the bridge collapse. Other celebrities who expressed their grief includes Ritesh Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi, Hema Malini among others.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has now announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 5 lakh each to the families of those killed in the Mumbai bridge collapse incident and a compensation of Rs 50,000 each for the injured people.
Fadnavis said, “Ex-gratia of Rs 5 Lakh each will be given to the families of those who died in the incident and compensation of Rs 50,000 each will be given to the injured. Besides, the state govt will provide all possible assistance for their treatment.”
The bridge connects the CSMT’s suburban platform No. 1 with the B.T. Lane near The Times of India Building and the Anjuman-e-Islam School. It was used by thousands of daily commuters rushing to catch the local trains on Central Railway and the Harbour Line. It was commonly known as ‘Kasab bridge’ as the 26/11 Mumbai attack terrorist passed through it during the ghastly terror strike.
